sustainability

Sustainability is an important new concept that is entering almost all fields of study and
professional development. In partnership with College faculty member Cindy Case, this is a new
course this year.

The overall theme of this course is “the ability of humanity to ensure that it meets the needs of
the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.”
Sustainability is based on a simple principle: everything that we need for our survival and well
being depends, either directly or indirectly, on our natural environment.

Topics covered include Environmental Science and Sustainability, Environment, Biodiversity,
Conservation, Population and Consumption, Water, Soil and Food Production, as well as Energy:
Renewable v. Non-renewable Resources.

Please Note: Sustainability is only offered week 4!
